BackMyTown

Launching in Reigate

Buy from local shops.
Your school or club gets a share.

BackMyTown is an online marketplace for a town’s independent businesses. You pay the shop’s usual price. We charge the shop a small fee, and we give half of that fee to a local group you choose.

Not yet open to shoppers. Reigate is first, with InvestReigate.

On a £100 order

You pay £100. Same as walking in.

The shop receives
£96

Paid straight into the shop’s own Stripe account, less Stripe’s card processing fee.

The community group receives
£2

2% of the sale, paid monthly by bank transfer. It comes out of our fee, not out of the shop’s takings.

BackMyTown keeps
£2

What is left of our fee after the group’s share. This is how the platform pays for itself.

If you choose no group, we keep the full 4%. Choosing a group never changes what you pay or what the shop receives.

How it works

Three steps, and then it looks after itself

1

Pick the causes you care about

Your child’s school, your rugby club, your church. Choose one or split across several, and change your mind whenever you like.
2

Shop with local businesses

Order tickets, a weekly bread round, a veg box or a gift card from shops in your town. You pay their normal price.
3

Your groups get paid every month

We add up each group’s share and pay it by bank transfer within ten working days of month end. Anything under £10 rolls into the next month.

For local businesses

Sell online without building a shop

Take orders and payments, reach every household signed up in your town, and pay nothing until you sell something.

For community groups

Fundraising that needs no volunteers

No raffle tickets, no bag packing, no asking families for more money. Your supporters shop as they already do.

What gets sold

Ordinary things people already buy

This works because nobody has to spend more or shop differently. The money that already moves through a town’s bakeries, butchers, cafés and clubs simply carries a little more with it. Standing weekly orders matter most: they turn a one-off good deed into a monthly cheque for a school.

Every town, one at a time

Want this in your town?

Reigate is first, with InvestReigate. After that it is a matter of finding the people who already hold a town together: the PTA chair, the club secretary, the shop owner everyone knows. If that sounds like you, we would like to hear from you.
